Other dissertations were a very important resource for me in my own dissertation journey. First, because of the extensive bibliographies which helped me to identify relevant literature. Second, because those dissertations provided guidance for how dissertations should be structured. I read several dissertations in my field, and in related fields that utilized the same type of methodology. The methodology, results, and discussion chapters were particularly helpful when I was framing out my own dissertation organization and structure.
