Google Scholar: Get Notifications

Google Scholar allows for a variety of author notifications, if the author already has a Google Scholar Profile: 

• New articles BY this author
• New citations TO this author
• New articles related to this author's research

Instructions:

• Authors that have a Google Scholar profile will be underlined and hyperlinked search results
• Select an author with a Google Scholar profile
• Click the blue follow button next to their name
• Select the desired notification type
• Enter the email address you wish to use
• Click done

Google Scholar can be used to showcase your work, monitor who is citing your publications, graph citations over time, and examine Google's citation h-index metrics. 

Sign up for a citations profile

1. Click the link above to begin the process
2. Once you have signed in, you will be walked through the steps to complete your profile
3. Use your University fo Lynchburg email address so that Google Scholar can confirm your account
4. After your profile is created, you will be shown a list of articles by authors with names that are similar to yours.  Select your publications, click to search for your articles, or manually add your publications
5. Change your profile visibility to public if desired

Sign up for notifications: 

1. Start at your Google Scholar profile
2. Click the blue follow button next to your name
3. Select "new citations to this author"
4. Enter your email address
5. Click done

Instructions: 

1. Go to scholar.google.com
2. Click the menu icon
3. Select alerts from the list
4. Create or cancel alerts
