Circulation Policy

Circulation Policies for Undergraduate Students

General Information

  • Items may be checked out at the Circulation Desk on the first floor.
  • A valid University of Lynchburg ID card is required to check out library items. 
  • Students are limited to 10 total DVD/audiobook checkouts at any given time.

*At the end of Fall and Spring semesters, all materials are due on the last day of exams.


  • Items may be renewed if they are not on hold for other users. Login to your Library account to renew online, ask at the Circulation Desk, or call 434.544.8430.

Lost and Damaged Items

  • Report any items known to be lost or damaged to the Circulation Desk as soon as possible.
  • Library items are billed once they are 30 days overdue. The user's account will be charged the replacement cost for the item plus a $25 non-refundable processing charge per item.
  • Users will be charged for materials which are returned damaged.  If an item is repairable, the user will be charged for the cost of the repairs only. If an item is beyond repair, the replacement cost will be charged. All materials remain the property of the Library.

Security System

All library materials are protected by the Checkpoint Security System.  An alarm will sound if materials are removed from the Library without first being checked out. The theft or mutilation of library materials, as well as any attempt to circumvent the security system, is a violation of the Honor Code and will be treated as such.

Non-Circulating Materials

Materials in the following collections are non-circulating and must be used in the library:

  • Archives
  • Microforms
  • Special Collections
