Collection Management Policy

Internal access to Collection Management Resources

Intellectual Freedom and Access

Knight-Capron Library will support intellectual freedom and access.   As such the library supports the American Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Principles for Academic Libraries, including transcending the opinions and beliefs of the individual selector during collection management, licensing agreements that maximize access to all resources regardless of creed or belief, free and complete access to resources in the library regardless of research being pursued or topics being discussed, and a procedure ensuring due process should an objection be raised to any print or digital materials. http://www.ala.org/advocacy/intfreedom/librarybill/interpretations/intellectual

Copyright Compliance

Knight-Capron Library will maintain a copyright compliant attitude toward all collection management, including purchasing materials within an open and accessible educational use policy, legally securing the rights to digital access, and maintaining copyright access records.
