Library to Go: More for Faculty

Schedule an Instruction Session

Interlibrary Loan

Library to Go

  • Faculty may request that the library deliver books, audio-visual materials, or copies of articles from journals in the library's collections directly to their office.
  • This service is available Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters while classes are in session.
  • There are two scheduled deliveries per day.
  • It is our goal that requests received by 10 a.m. will be delivered by 11 a.m. the same day.
  • The goal for requests received by 2 p.m. is to deliver the items by 3 p.m.
  • Requested books and audio-visual materials will be checked out to the faculty member.

To request this service, please contact Belinda Carroll, Circulation Supervisor.

Course Reserves

Course Reserve Form (Books & Audio-Visual)

Course Reserve Form (Articles and Book Excerpts)

  • Faculty members may use these forms to request items to be retrieved from the collection and placed on reserve for their classes.
  • Up to eight items may be requested per form.
  • Books and audio-visual materials will be placed directly on the reserve shelves at the main desk.
  • Articles or book excerpts will be copied and typically placed on electronic reserve for online access.
  • Of course, you are always welcome to come to the library and submit the requests in person.
  • If you wish to place books, films, or articles that you own on reserve, you will need to bring them to the library.
  • See our Course Reserves policy page for more details.

Old Style: Connecting to online resources from off-campus.

Start at the library's website:

  • Select a database to use
  • When prompted enter your campus network username and password, just as you would to log-in to a computer on campus.

As long as you keep your web browser open, you should be able to use any of the library's online resources. If you close the browser, you will need to log-in again.

  • Unable to access articles or books available online from University of Lynchburg at your place of work.
    • Very often your employer's network has a firewall that will block communication from a proxy server. When you log-in to the off-campus access page, you are being connected through a proxy server. So, you would not be able to connect from work. It should still work from home.
  • Going directly to the website for a journal from a Google or Google Scholar search, but unable to get articles.
    • If you try to connect to a journal directly, without starting from the Library website and going through the off-campus network log-in, the journal's website will not recognize your computer as one that has access to the site.
    • Library Access should solve this problem. Email us, including the name, issue and volume of the journal, if it does not work.

Custom Search Box for Moodle

New Service:

The library can create a customized search for your moodle pages that will search only the library resources you want your students to use.
Choose the databases you want the search to encompass, including the library catalog, and we will create a search box you can install on your Moodle page.
