Library Mission and Vision Statements and introduction

Mission

The Library supports learning by providing information services to meet the needs of students and faculty.

Vision

The library will serve as a conduit to discovery and self-education by:

  • focusing on users' needs
  • enabling users to become information literate
  • acquiring and organizing information resources
  • acting as a guide to information utilizing traditional formats and innovative technology.

Introduction

Welcome to Knight-Capron Library.  We are excited to meet you and help you access the information and resources you need.

The library is a physical space in which our print and media collections are housed, and where you can find a quiet place to study or a central spot for collaboration, but what we have to offer is not limited to inside the building. Many of our electronic information resources are available from anywhere, with technology you already have such as our Library Anywhere App which will allow you to search, renew and place holds on materials in the library.

The library is also an online collection of resources such as databases, tutorials and our Digital Showcase, a repository of student and faculty publications. Access is available from our webpage and we are available to answer your questions and help you get connected.

Our greatest resource is a dedicated staff who look forward to providing user-friendly assistance to students and faculty in the pursuit of life-long learning.

Of course we would like to meet you in person, but if that's not convenient you can reach us by email (refdesk@lynchburg.edu),
chat (434-264-5513), or on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat).

Please send comments or suggestions to me at horton.jl@lynchburg.edu or 544-8432.
